Dear colleagues, The Organizing Committee is pleased to inform you that: "8th Serbian Conference on Spectral Line Shapes in Astrophysics" will be held on Divcibare, Serbia, in the period June 06-10, 2011. The official conference website (http://www.scslsa.matf.bg.ac.rs) will be used for all conference activities including registration, accommodation, paper submission, and review process. SCIENTIFIC RATIONALE The spectral lines, their widths, and shapes, are powerful tools for emitting/absorbing gas diagnostics in different astrophysical objects (from the Solar system to the most distant objects in the Universe - quasars). The emission/absorption lines of astrophysical objects are produced over a wide range of distances from an observer and under a wide range of physical and kinematical conditions. Therefore in astrophysical objects the lines from X-ray (Fe K) to the radio (radio recombination line) wavelength range have been observed. On the other hand, the experimental and theoretical investigations of laboratory plasma have been applied in spectroscopic astrophysical research, especially atomic data needed for line shape calculations. This conference will bring together astronomers (observers and theoreticians) and physicists to review the present stage of investigation (Serbia and elsewhere), with the aim of improving our knowledge in this field, and to better understand the significance of emission/absorption lines for future astrophysical investigations. The program will focus on: - Stellar and interstellar spectral lines - Spectral line phenomena in extragalactic objects - Spectral lines in laboratory and space plasma IMPORTANT DATES Registration: February 01, 2011 Deadline for reduced-registration fees: February 01, 2011 Abstracts (one page): March 01, 2011 Second Announcement: April 01, 2011 Hotel reservation: April 01, 2011 Final Announcement: June 01, 2011 Paper submission: June 10, 2011 REGISTRATION AND CONFERENCE FEES The registration of the participants will be possible until February 01, 2011 (which is also the deadline for reduced-registration fees). In order to register please fill in the form given at website of the conference. The conference fees will be 200 eur for students (150 eur before February 01, 2011) and 300 eur for researchers (250 eur before February 01, 2011). Abstracts (one page) of contributions should be sent until March 01, 2011. The template for preparation of abstracts is available on the conference website. FINANCIAL SUPPORT The Organizing Committees will try to find sources for financial support for a limited number of young participants (PhD students). The participants who are interested in financial support should send their request and one page abstract to the LOC until February 01, 2011. PROCEEDINGS The Proceedings will be published after the Conference. The deadline for sending your contributions is June 10, 2011. The instructions for preparing your contributions will be given later at the website of the conference. LOCATION 8th SCSLSA will be held in hotel 'Divcibare' in Divcibare (http://www.vujicdivcibare.com/). Divcibare is a small town and a well-known mountain resort situated on Mount Maljen (1104m), south-east of Valjevo, at the altitude of 980 metres above sea level. The local climate is temperate and the locality abounds in flora and fauna, springs and streams, not to mention a fine landscape and a favourable geographical position. Nearby is situated second biggest waterfall in Serbia (30m). The surrounding mountain peaks and saddles are covered with snow for three to four months each year. All this makes Divcibare attractive in summer and winter alike and one of the most popular resorts in Serbia. SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZING COMMITTEE Luka C.
